Calgary, AB, Canada - December 6, 2013,Calgary, AB, Canada - Inter Pipeline Ltd. announced the appointment of a new independent chairman of the board, the transition of CEO responsibilities and the appointment of a new chair of the corporation’s governance committee.

Richard Shaw has accepted the position of Chairman of the Board effective January 1, 2014.
Mr. Shaw has served as director since 2009, acting as the chair of Inter Pipeline’s Corporate Governance Committee. Mr. Shaw was formerly a senior partner in the Business Law Group of McCarthy Tetrault LLP until his retirement in December 2010. He has served as a director on the national board of the Institute of Corporate Directors and currently serves as the
lead member of the Alberta Securities Commission.
Mr. Shaw is a lecturer in the Director Education and MBA programs at the Haskayne School of Business and presently serves as chair of the Board of Governors of Mount Royal University. He also serves as director on the board of ENMAX Corporation.
In concert with Mr. Shaw’s appointment, Inter Pipeline’s current Chairman, John F. Driscoll will retire from the board on January 1, 2014.
Mr. Driscoll has served as Chairman for the past 11 years. Mr. Driscoll is the founding President, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sentry Select Capital Corp. He also founded and has been Chairman of NCE Resources Group since 1984, and Chairman and founder of Petrofund Energy Trust from 1988 to 2006.
Mr. Driscoll founded Petrofund Energy Trust. In 2006, Petrofund Energy Trust was sold to Penn West Energy Trust creating the largest energy trust in North America at the time. Mr. Driscoll was the founder of Allied Oil & Gas Corp. and Endev Energy Inc., holding the position of Chairman from 1999 to 2001 and from 2002 to 2008, respectively.
He founded Charter Real Estate Investment Trust and served as chairman from March 2007 to June 2010. Since 1981, Mr. Driscoll has been President of J.F. Driscoll Investment Corp., a company specializing in investment management and related advisory and consulting services.
Mr. Driscoll received his Bachelor of Science degree from the Boston College Business School and attended the New York Institute of Finance for advanced business studies. He has more than 40 years of diversified business experience. He is a member of the CFA Institute and also attained the professional manager designation with the Canadian Institute of Management. He has founded numerous public partnerships as well as public and private energy and investment-related companies.
Also effective January 1, 2014, David Fesyk will step down as President and Chief Executive Officer and assume the role of Executive Vice Chairman.
Mr. Fesyk has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since Inter Pipeline’s
initial public offering in 1997. Prior to this, he held several other senior executive positions with affiliates of Koch Industries Inc., including Vice President, Transportation, Koch Petroleum Canada, LP, and President, Koch Canada Ltd. He also served as director of South Saskatchewan Pipeline Company.
Prior to joining Koch, Mr. Fesyk was employed by Esso Petroleum Canada Ltd. and various geological consulting firms where he gained experience in both the upstream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Fesyk holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Calgary.
Christian Bayle, Inter Pipeline’s current Chief Operating Officer, will become Inter Pipeline’s new President and Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2014.
Mr. Bayle joined Inter Pipeline in 1997 and has held several senior officer positions including Vice President Operations, Senior Vice President Corporate Development and Chief Operating Officer.
Alison Love has agreed to join Inter Pipeline’s Board of Directors effective January 1, 2014.
Ms. Love has more than 30 years’ experience as a corporate and securities lawyer, recently retiring as Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Enbridge Inc.
Previously she held senior executive positions at TransAlta Corporation, Canadian Pacific Limited and TransCanada Pipelines Limited. She currently serves as a member of the executive committee of the Calgary chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors. ■
