San Diego, Ca., USA - June 17, 2015, San Diego, Ca., USA - Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced that Robert E. Hoffman, senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer, has decided to leave the company.

Mr. Hoffman has been Senior Vice President of Finance at Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since June 2012. He served as the Chief Financial Officer at Polaris Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from March 2011 to August 2011. Mr. Hoffman joined Polaris Pharmaceuticals in March 2011.
He served as the Chief Financial Officer of Arena Pharmaceuticals Inc., from December 2005 to February 2011 and Vice President of Finance since April 2000 until February 2011.
Mr. Hoffman served as Chief Financial Officer of ChemNavigator and as Vice President of Finance of BRL Screening. He served as Chief Accounting Officer of Arena Pharmaceuticals from June 2004 to December 2005 and as its Controller from August 1997 to April 2000.
From 1994 to 1997, he served as an Assistant Controller of Document Sciences Corporation. He has been a Director of CombiMatrix Corporation since July 17, 2013 and MabVax Therapeutics Holdings, Inc. since September 2014.
He has been a Member of Advisory Board at Innovus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since 2013 and served as its Member of Business & Finance Advisory Board at since June 27, 2013. He is Vice President of the San Diego chapter of Financial Executives International. He was the President of the San Diego Chapter of Financial Executives International.
He is a Member of the Association of Bioscience Financial Officers and a Member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego County Credit Union. He is a Member of the San Diego chapter of Financial Executives International. He serves as a Director of Kura Oncology, Inc. He was a Director of the San Diego Chapter of Financial Executives International.
He is a Member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board’s Small Business Advisory Committee. He was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the state of California.
Mr. Hoffman holds a B.B.A. from St. Bonaventure University. He is expected to remain in his current role at Arena until July 10, 2015.
Following Mr. Hoffman's departure, Jennifer K. Bielasz, Arena's Vice President, Accounting and Controller, will continue to play a key leadership role in Arena's finance department. ■
