In late 2014, Rob Pease, president & CEO/director, expressed to the Board of Directors of the Company that he wished to retire in 2015.
Mr. Pease joined the Company in late 2011. Mr. Pease has been involved with mineral exploration and mine development projects worldwide for the past 30 years. In 2006, Mr. Pease formed Terrane Metals with the intent to develop the Mt Milligan Gold-Copper project northwest of Prince George. Ultimately Terrane Metals was acquired by Thompson Creek Mining in late 2010 for $700m.
He is also a former Director and Strategic Advisor to Richfield Ventures Corp., a junior gold mining company exploring the newly discovered Blackwater gold project in British Columbia. Richfield was acquired earlier this year by New Gold Inc.
Prior to becoming President and CEO of Terrane, he was employed by the Placer Dome group for the majority of his professional career. In 2002 he assumed the role of the General Manager, Canada Exploration and Global Major Projects with Placer Dome.
Mr. Pease holds a B.Sc. degree in Earth Science from the University of Waterloo, a Professional Geologist (British Columbia) certification and is a Fellow of the Geologic Association of Canada. He is a Past-Chairman of the Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia, and in 2010 was named "BC Mining Person of the year" by the Mining Association of BC.
The Board of Directors appoints Bruce McLeod to the role of President and CEO of Sabina effective February 15, 2015.
Mr. McLeod is a Mining Engineer with over 30 years of experience in all areas of the mining industry. Most recently he was the President & CEO of Mercator Minerals Ltd. Prior to that, he was the President, CEO and Director of Creston Moly Corp as well as a founder of both Sherwood Copper Corp and Stornoway Diamond Corporation.
He also served on the Board of Directors of Palmerejo Silver and Gold Corp (acquired by Coeur D'Alene Mines) and Ariane Gold (acquired by Cambior Inc.) and has been involved in numerous projects at various stages of development while with the Northair Group. ■
