Brentwood, United Kingdom - October 5, 2015, Brentwood, United Kingdom - Shawbrook Group plc, a specialist lending and savings bank, announced that Steve Pateman has agreed to join the group as its new chief executive officer.

Mr. Pateman joins Shawbrook from Santander UK, where he is Executive Director and Head of UK Banking, running the bank's Corporate, Commercial, Business and Retail Banking operations as well as Wealth Management.
Mr. Pateman joined Santander in 2008 with responsibility for building an SME franchise. Before joining Santander UK, he spent eight years at RBS, where he was CEO of Business Banking, Retail Markets and Managing Director of Commercial Banking and Corporate Banking, Corporate Markets.
Subject to regulatory approval, Mr. Pateman will take up his position on January 1, 2016.
Following Richard Pyman's decision to take leave of absence on May 21, the Board confirms that he will be stepping down as Chief Executive Officer and from the Board and will leave the Group with immediate effect.
Mr. Pyman joined the Group in March 2012 and has been the Chief Executive Officer of Shawbrook Bank Limited since April 2014. Previously, he was managing director of Singers Asset Finance Holdings, a role that he had held since 2005.
Mr. Pyman held positions on the banking side of Singer & Friedlander from 1991 to 2004, including head of credit from 2000 to 2004. During his time as managing director of Singers Asset Finance, he led three acquisitions and one divestment, as well as completing Singers Asset Finance’s Morgan Advanced Materials-rated securitisation in 2010.
Mr. Pyman is also a non-executive director of Weatherbys Bank Limited. He holds an MA in Modern and Medieval Languages from Cambridge University and an MBA from City University Business School.
Tom Wood, who has been running the bank during Mr. Pyman's absence will remain Interim Chief Executive Officer until Mr. Pateman's arrival, after which he will continue his role as Chief Financial Officer.
Prior to joining the Group in 2012, Mr. Wood was the finance director of NBNK Investments plc and group CFO of Skipton Group. He began his career in financial services with Barclays where he held a number of senior roles in finance, risk and corporate development. ■
