London, United Kingdom - January 8, 2015, London, United Kingdom - Standard Chartered PLC announces the retirement of Richard Goulding as chief risk officer and Jan Verplancke as CIO and group head of technology and operations, and as directors of the Court of Standard Chartered Bank.

Mr. Goulding is retiring from the Group after eight years as Chief Risk Officer. Mr. Goulding will stay on until his successor has been appointed, and will leave on the completion of an appropriate hand-over period later in the year.
Mr. Goulding joined Standard Chartered in 2002 as Chief Operating Officer for the Wholesale Bank, and was appointed Chief Risk Officer in 2006.
In his earlier role, he was the Chief Operating Officer for the Wholesale Bank, and was responsible for managing and overseeing various functions including strategy development, research, legal & compliance, technology & operations, risk, finance, human resources, and portfolio management.
He joined Standard Chartered from the Old Mutual Group where he was Chief Operating Officer of their global financial services division based in London and Boston.
Prior to that, he was a member of the Global Executive Board of UBS investment banking division, chaired the operating committee and took responsibility for programme and regional management.
Immediately preceding that, he was the Chief Credit Officer of the investment banking division and also Group Head of Risk Policies and Systems. Mr. Goulding joined UBS from Bankers Trust where he was their European Treasurer.
He qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen and Company, having previously obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a postgraduate degree in finance from the University of Natal in South Africa.
Mr. Verplancke is retiring from the Group after 10 years as Chief Information Officer and Group Head of Technology and Operations.
Mr. Verplancke will also stay on until his successor has been appointed and will leave on the completion of an appropriate hand-over period.
Mr. Verplancke joined Standard Chartered in 2004 and is based in Singapore.
Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Mr. Verplancke was Chief Information Officer - EMEA at Dell. Next to the overall systems responsibility for EMEA, he was responsible for the expansion of Dell's business in terms of new markets and consolidation of back-office operations, running teams in Slovakia and Casablanca to name two.
Before Dell, Mr. Verplancke worked at Levis Strauss, having joined in 1984 in Brussels, where he focused on the introduction of personal computers through Western European affiliates.
From 1989 till 1993 he helped build up the newly opened markets in Eastern Europe, from the Geneva office.
In 1994, remaining with Levis', he relocated to San Francisco as Chief Architect, and was responsible for setting global technology standards and contracts, as well as guiding the global development. ■
