Berne, Switzerland - Swisscom, a telecoms provider, announced management changes and the appointment of Urs Schaeppi as the new CEO of Swisscom Switzerland, effective January 1, 2013.

Mr. Schaeppi will remain in his current role as Head of Corporate Business ad interim.
Mr. Schaeppi previously worked at Iveco Motorenforschungs, he was Head of Marketing, Electronics Production profit centre, at Ascom AG; Plant Manager at Biberist paper factory; and Head of Commercial Business and member of the Executive Board, Swisscom Mobile.
Mr. Schaeppi also served as chief executive officer of Swisscom Solutions and as the Head of Corporate Business of Swisscom Switzerland.
Since March 2006, he is a member of the Swisscom Group Executive Board.
Mr. Schaeppi is a member of the Board of Directors at BV Group, Berne.
The company also announced the appointment of three new board members: Mario Rossi, Andreas König and Jürgen Galler.
Mr. Rossi has been name the new Swisscom CFO. He is a certified public accountant.
He joined Swisscom in 1998 as Head of Reporting and Controlling and has since held various management positions within Swisscom’s finance division.
Since 2010 Mr. Rossi has been Head of Business Steering at Swisscom Switzerland.
Mr. König will take over as the new CEO of Swisscom IT Services, effective October 1, 2012.
Mr. König studied mechanical engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich and has many years of international IT experience.
For the last 16 years he has worked for NetApp.
Most recently he was General Manager EMEA, and prior to joining NetApp he was Head of Indirect Sales at Silicon Graphics.
Mr. Galler is to take over as Head of Group Strategy & Innovation. Mr. Galler has been working for Google Switzerland in Zurich for the past five years where he was in charge of product management for Google Search and Consumer Products in Europe until 2009, before assuming responsibility for product management and engineering for YouTube in Europe.
He is currently responsible for market development activities in the emerging market regions.
Mr. Galler worked for more than three years in Japan, before joining Bertelsmann in 2000 as Vice President of Lycos Europe and Managing Director of Webhosting & Communities.
In this latter role he worked in Germany and Spain.
He has a PhD in economics and social science with a focus on business IT.
The company also announced that the Swisscom Switzerland Management Board will in future be made up of Urs Schaeppi (CEO); Christian Petit (Residential Customers); Roger Wüthrich-Hasenböhler (Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises); Head of Corporate Business (Urs Schaeppi ad interim); Heinz Herren (Network & IT); Jürgen Galler (Group Strategy & Innovation); Jürg Pauli (Marketing); Kathrin Amacker (Group Communications & Responsibility); and representatives of the Group staff functions. ■
