Bellevue, Wash., USA - November 17, 2010, Bellevue, Wash., USA - Symetra Financial Corporation announced that Jennifer Davies, SVP of enterprise development, and Troy J. Olson-Blair, VP and chief information officer, will retire at the end of this year.

Ms. Davies is senior vice president of Symetra Financial Corporation and its insurance subsidiaries, with responsibility for developing new markets, lines of business and strategic partnerships, as well as overseeing the company’s acquisition strategy.
Ms. Davies also is leading the Life and Annuities Division on an interim basis, with responsibility for the operations and profitability of the Retirement Services, Income Annuities and Individual Life product lines, and oversight of the Medical department.
In addition, Ms. Davies is a principal of Symetra Investment Services, the company’s full-service broker-dealer that offers financial planning and retail investment products. Before transitioning into her enterprise development role in 2006, Ms. Davies led Symetra’s Life and Annuities Division. Prior to that, she was head of the Individual Life product line.
Ms. Davies joined Symetra Financial in 1992 following 10 years working in underwriting and claims at Hartford Life Insurance Company and Sons of Norway.
Ms. Davies holds a variety of professional designations, including ALHC, ChFC, CLU, FALU and FLMI, and is Series 6, 26 and 63 licensed. She is also a member of the Association of Home Office Underwriters.
Ms. Davies earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Minnesota and a master's degree in English from the University of Virginia.
Ms. Olson-Blair is vice president and chief information officer of Symetra Financial Corporation and its insurance subsidiaries, with oversight of the Information Technology organization.
Ms. Olson-Blair began her career working for Safeco. She later worked at Honeywell Information Systems and Seattle First National Bank. In 1983, she returned to Safeco, where she held various systems and management positions. In 1992, she joined corporate technology services. She was appointed assistant vice president with responsibility for voice and data communications, networking, web services, personal computing technologies and end-user support.
Ms. Olson-Blair was appointed vice president for Symetra Life Insurance Company in 2000 and was named chief information officer in 2004. She was appointed vice president of Symetra Financial Corporation in 2007. In her role she is responsible for business technology planning, business process enhancements through automation and technology infrastructure. ■
