Mundelein, Il., USA - Sysmex, a medical diagnostic testing equipment and information systems technology company, announced that it has promoted Ralph Taylor to the role of EVP, marketing, business development and medical/scientific affairs and Robert Degnan to EVP, commercial operations.

Mr. Taylor joined Sysmex in 2007 as the company's Vice President of Marketing and Medical Affairs.
Mr. Taylor's clinical diagnostic industry experience spans an 18-year career with Beckman Coulter, where he most recently served as Vice President of Clinical Business Management.
Prior to his tenure at Beckman Coulter, Mr. Taylor worked in a variety of scientific positions with the United Kingdom's Health Service Organization, including his final post as the organization's Chief Medical Laboratory Scientific Officer, Department of Hematology, University College Hospital, London.
Mr. Taylor is a member of Florida International University MBA Advisory Board and a member of the American Association of Clinical Chemistry.
Mr. Taylor earned his degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from Paddington College, London and his postgraduate management degree from South Bank University, London.
Mr. Degnan joined the company in 2006 as Vice President of Sales.
Prior to joining Sysmex America, Mr. Degnan served a 23-year tenure with Roche Diagnostics where he held a number of senior leadership sales positions including the Area Director-Northeast, Systems and Reagents.
During that time, Mr. Degnan oversaw the areas of centralized diagnostics involving: Sysmex's portfolio during the Sysmex/Roche Diagnostics alliance, molecular diagnostics (highlighted by the successful launch of their HIV Monitor in US Market place) and key account management.
Mr. Degnan is a recipient of the 2004 Dr. Hubert Rehkaemper Award of Excellence for Outstanding Leadership.
Mr. Degnan's range of knowledge and industry experience also includes the development of a laboratory automation team, market launches of leading diagnostic systems and account services for major US reference laboratories and integrated health networks. ■
