Calgary, AB, Canada - Talisman Energy announced that John A. Manzoni, president and chief executive officer, has stepped down, effective immediately.

Mr. Manzoni has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of Talisman Energy Inc. since September 1, 2007.
During the past 24 years, Mr. Manzoni has held several senior strategic and operational leadership positions with BP and its global group of companies.
He served in various roles at BP Plc, including Chief Executive, Refining & Marketing and Group Managing Director.
While at BP, Mr. Manzoni also served as Chief Executive & Executive Vice President of Gas & Power, as Regional President of Eastern United States, as Group Vice President of Downstream European Markets, and Development Director of Oil Refining and Marketing.
He also served as Vice President of Prudhoe Bay and as Manager of Investor Relations.
Mr. Manzoni also served as Chief Executive of Refining and Marketing of BP Solar International (formerly, Solarex Corporation).
He serves as an Executive Director of BP Trinidad & Tobago LLC. He has been an Independent Non-Executive Director of SABMiller and a Non Independent Director of Talisman Energy.
He serves as a Member of the Energy Advisory Board at Accenture and as a Member of Canada Advisory Board at Catalyst.
Mr. Manzoni graduated from Imperial College with a Bachelor of Science (BSC) degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science (MSC) degree in Petroleum Engineering.
He was a Sloan Fellow at Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he earned an Master of Science in Business Management.
Mr. Manzoni serves as Vice Chairman of the Advisory Council of Stanford Graduate School of Business.
The company also announced that Harold N. Kvisle, current director of Talisman Energy, is appointed president and chief executive officer.
Mr. Kvisle brings more than 35 years of experience in domestic and international oil and gas operations. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of Gas Transmission Northwest Corp.
He has been an Advisor, President and Chief Executive Officer of TransCanada Corp. and its subsidiary, TransCanada PipeLine.
He previously served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Transcanada Keystone Pipeline.
Prior to TransCanada, Mr. Kvisle was employed at Fletcher Challenge Energy Canada where he held the positions of Chief Operating Officer, FCE Americas, and President, FCE Canada.
He also served as a Director of Pacifica Papers, ARC Resources, ARC Energy Trust. Catalyst Paper and ARC Strategic Energy Fund.
Mr. Kvisle serves as Chair of Interstate P. Eng. National Gas Association of America and Chairman of the Board of Governors, Mount Calgary, Alberta Royal College.
In 2004, he was the first Canadian ever elected as Chairman of the Board of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of Americas (INGAA) and served as Chair of the Mount Royal College Board of Governors.
He presently sits on the INGAA Board.
Mr. Kvisle is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta, the worldwide Society of Petroleum Engineers, the University of Calgary Haskayne School MBA Associates, and the Canadian Council of Chief Executives.
Mr. Kvisle has a Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Engineering from the University of Alberta and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Calgary in 1982. ■
