Brian Canfield is retiring and being honoured with Chairman Emeritus distinction.
Mr. Canfield is the Chair of the Board of TELUS Corporation. His career with TELUS spans more than 50 years, including almost a year as interim Chief Executive Officer of TELUS (September 1999 to July 2000), four years as Chair and Chief Executive Officer of BC TELECOM Inc., three years as President and Chief Executive Officer and one year as President and Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Canfield retired as an executive of BC TELECOM Inc. in 1997. He was named an Honorary Doctor of Technology by the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1997. He has received a Fellowship Award from the Institute of Corporate Directors, and is a Member of the Order of British Columbia and the Order of Canada.
Darren Entwistle has been appointed as Executive Chair.
Before joining TELUS, Mr. Entwistle spent seven years as an executive at Cable & Wireless in the United Kingdom- including being named president in 1999. He has spent 30 years in the telecommunications industry. He is on a number of boards, including the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, George Weston Limited and the Canadian Board Diversity Council.
Mr. Entwistle received a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from Concordia University, an MBA (Finance) from McGill University and a diploma in Network Engineering from the University of Toronto.
Joe Natale is being appointed as President and CEO.
Mr. Natale joined TELUS in 2003 as an executive vice president and has progressed through increasingly expansive roles, including President of TELUS Business Solutions and President of TELUS Consumer Solutions. He has served as TELUS’ Chief Commercial Officer. He will join TELUS’ Board of Directors. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Celestica Inc., Soulpepper Theatre and United Way Toronto.
Dick Auchinleck is being appointed Lead Director of TELUS.
Mr. Auchinleck is a corporate director. He is also currently the presiding director of ConocoPhillips, an oil and gas company. He was employed by Gulf Canada Resources Limited for 25 years, retiring in 2001 as President and Chief Executive Officer after the sale of the company to Conoco Inc. He has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Chemical Engineering) from the University of British Columbia. ■
