Textron names Mitch Snyder president & CEO of Bell Helicopter

Providence, R.I., USA - October 19, 2015, Providence, R.I., USA - Textron Inc. announced that Mitch Snyder has been named president & CEO of Bell Helicopter, succeeding John Garrison, who is joining Terex Corporation as its new president & CEO.

Mr. Snyder joined Bell Helicopter in 2004, and has held several leadership positions with the company, serving most recently as executive vice president of Military Business. He has more than 30 years experience in the aerospace and defense industry.

Throughout his career at Bell, Mr. Snyder has led a number of the company’s most strategic initiatives, such as overall operation of Bell’s government business and direction of the V-22 Osprey program.

Prior to joining Bell Helicopter, he held senior leadership positions with Lockheed Martin in areas of engineering, business and manufacturing.

Mr. Garrison was named Bell Helicopter’s president and chief executive officer in July 2009. Prior to joining Bell, he served as president of Textron’s Industrial segment, which comprises four businesses: E-Z-GO, Greenlee, Jacobsen and Kautex.

Before that, he was president of E-Z-GO. Mr. Garrison joined Textron in 2002 from Azurix Corporation, a global water company, where he was chairman, president and CEO. He previously was vice president and general manager of Case Corporation’s North American Agricultural Group and vice president and general manager for Case’s Agricultural Systems Group.

Mr. Garrison earned a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University, and his bachelor’s degree in engineering from West Point (Class of 1982). He also completed Textron’s Global Leadership program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

He served 10 years on active duty in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Ranger qualified artilleryman and taught in the Department of Social Sciences at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.
