Timotheus Höttges CEO of Deutsche Telekom

Bonn, Germany - December 31, 2013, Bonn, Germany - Deutsche Telekom announced that its CEO Rene Obermann will step down and Timotheus Höttges will take over as the new CEO, effective January 1, 2014.

Mr. Obermann is leaving Deutsche Telekom after 16 years, of which he spent seven at the head of the company and 11years as a member of the Board of Management. Two years ago the supervisory board of Deutsche Telekom decided to extend his contract as chairman of the board of management of Deutsche Telekom AG until the end of October 2016.

Mr. Obermann has been Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Telekom since November 2006. He joined the Group in 1998 as the Managing Director Sales for T-Mobile Deutschland GmbH. In April 2000, he became Chief Executive Officer of T-Mobile Deutschland. Internationally, he assumed responsibility for the European business of T-Mobile International AG & Co. KG one year later as the Board Member for European Operations and Group Synergies.

From the end of 2002 to December 2006, he was CEO of T-Mobile International AG & Co. KG and the Deutsche Telekom Board Member for Mobile Communications.

Mr. Obermann's career began with a business traineeship at BMW in Munich. Following that, he set up his own business ABC Telekom in Münster in 1986. He became Managing Partner of Hutchison Mobilfunk GmbH, the successor of ABC Telekom, in 1991. From 1994 to 1998, he was Chairman of the company's Management Board.

Mr. Obermann has been Vice President of the German industry association BITKOM since March 2007. In the 1990s, he was Chairman of the former German Association of Mobile Communication Service Providers for two years.

Mr. Höttges has been with Deutsche Telekom since 2000. He joined the Group as Finance Director of T-Mobile Germany, where he later took over as Chairman of the Management Board, before becoming Chief Sales and Service Officer for Deutsche Telekom's European mobile communications activities in 2004.

Mr. Höttges was appointed member of the Group Board of Management responsible for the German fixed-line business in 2006 and was later appointed as Chief Financial Officer of Deutsche Telekom. The company also announced that Thomas Dannenfeldt, currently Managing Director, Finance and Controlling, responsible for the Group's German business activities, will take over as Chief Financial Officer, effective January 1, 2014.

Mr. Dannenfeldt has been Managing Director of Finance and Controlling at the Group's subsidiary in charge of German operations since April 2010. Before that, he was responsible for the Finance and Controlling department at T-Mobile Deutschland since July 2009. As a member of the T-Home Board of Management, he was responsible for the Finance department from January 2010.

Before being appointed to the T-Home Board of Management as the member responsible for the Market and Quality Management in January 2007, Mr. Dannenfeldt was in charge of sales management, supply chain management and sales development at T-Mobile International for the national companies in Europe. He also headed development and performance of the T-Mobile shops in Europe.

After studying business mathematics at the University of Trier, Mr. Dannenfeldt began his career in 1992 at T-Mobile Deutschland with sales tasks in the consumer and wholesale area. From 1995, he held various management posts in the areas of customer service, sales management and process management.
