United Arab Shipping Company appoints two senior officers

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - April 18, 2013, Dubai, United Arab Emirates - United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) announced that it has appointed Lars Christiansen as chief trade officer and Uffe Ostergaard as chief commercial officer.

Mr. Christiansen joined UASC in 2006 as Vice President Agency Management for the Asia region, and was in charge of setting up UASC's joint venture Agency structure in Asia. In 2008, he spearheaded the development of the UASC's global network of Agencies as Vice President Agency Management in Dubai, then moved back to Asia in 2009 to oversee UASC's Asia-wide trade and Agency activities spanning from Japan over China to Australia.

Mr. Christiansen has more than 20 years with A.P. Moller-Maersk Group in various management positions amongst others as Country Manager and as Vice President building up Maersk Line's Global Sales Management structure. He also served as Management Consultant and as Transport Director with IKEA on their Global Transportation Management Team.

Mr. Christiansen became CTO for UASC in 2012 and is also the Chairman of the Board for the United Arab Shipping Agencies Company - Hong Kong as well as Director on the Boards of UASAC Asia, UASAC Shanghai, UASAC Vietnam, UASAC Ningbo and UASAC Shenzhen. He holds an MBA from the University of Hull - UK.

Mr. Ostergaard comes to the role with deep knowledge of container shipping having spent 20 years with A.P. Moller - Maersk in various management positions. He was most recently Head of Global Marketing for A.P. Moller - Maersk where he held responsibility for business intelligence, product development and branding, globally.

He also held roles as Strategy Director and Senior General Manager for Global Sales Management. Mr. Ostergaard is an experienced Trade Manager and has acted as Country Manager in a number of locations around the world.
