Vaalco Energy announces hiring of Steven Guidry as CEO

Houston, Tx., USA - Vaalco Energy, Inc., an oil production company, announced that Steven Guidry will be joining the Vaalco management team on October 21, 2013, as its chief executive officer.

Mr. Guidry worked for 33 years at Marathon Oil Corporation in a number of senior executive capacities, most recently serving as Vice President of Business Development.

In addition, Mr. Guidry was President of Marathon's Libya subsidiary and led the company's central Africa business unit, overseeing project expansions in Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Angola.

Mr. Guidry also served as regional Vice President for Marathon's United States production operations.

In addition, Vaalco announced that its Board of Directors has established the position of lead independent director, and appointed James Jennings, former Chairman of Hunt Oil Company, to serve in that capacity.

Mr. Jennings currently serves as Chairman Emeritus of Hunt Oil Company in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the success of the company.

Before his retirement at the end of 2007, Mr. Jennings was responsible for establishing the strategic direction of the company, as well as responsible for international exploration and production, acquisitions and new business development.

He joined the company in 1979 and has served on the board of directors since 1991.

Mr. Jennings also served as chairman of Hunt Oil Company of Canada, Inc.

He previously served as president and executive vice president of Hunt Oil Company, where he was responsible for both international and U.S. exploration.

He also served as group vice president for worldwide exploration and as senior vice president of U.S. exploration and production.

One of Mr. Jennings’s early assignments with the company was the establishment of the Gulf Coast Exploration Division in Houston.

Prior to joining Hunt, he was chief geophysicist for Columbia Gas Development Corporation.

He also worked as a geophysicist for Shell Oil Company.

He has served as chairman of the executive committee of the Dallas Wildcatter’s Association and is an active member of the Dallas Committee of Foreign Relations.

He is a former director of the Dallas Petroleum Club.

Mr. Jennings earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and a master’s in physics from Purdue University.
