Walgreens names Jeffrey Berkowitz senior vice president

Deerfield, Ill., USA - September 30, 2010, Deerfield, Ill., USA - Walgreen, a drugstore chain, announced that Jeffrey Berkowitz has joined the company as senior vice president of pharmaceutical development and market access.

Mr. Berkowitz was most recently senior vice president of global market access for Merck & Company, Inc. In that role, he was a member of the Merck Global Human Health Leadership Team.

From 2002 to 2009, Mr. Berkowitz held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility in market access, sales and marketing with Schering-Plough prior to its acquisition by Merck in 2009. His tenure there culminated in his role as group vice president of diversified products and global market access. He also served as legal director for Schering-Plough’s managed care and commercial group from 1998 to 2002.

Prior to joining Schering-Plough, Mr. Berkowitz was a health care attorney for the international law firm Proskauer Rose LLP in New York and Washington, D.C.
