Westmoreland names president – Canada operations

Englewood, Co., USA - March 16, 2015, Englewood, Co., USA - Westmoreland Coal Company announced that John Schadan has been promoted from executive vice president to president – Canada operations.

Mr. Schadan joined Westmoreland in April 2014 as Senior Vice President, Canada Operations and was promoted to Executive Vice President on August 1, 2014.

Mr. Schadan’s career has encompassed both the western Canadian coal business as well as engineering and construction for a major international firm, and spans a variety of disciplines including mine engineering, environmental and regulatory approvals, business development, marketing, commercial contract negotiations, establishing joint venture partnerships, operations and general management.

Mr. Schadan is a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta and holds a mining engineering degree from Queen’s University.
