Wet Seal announces CEO departure
Ms. McGalla has been the Chief Executive Officer of Wet Seal Inc. since January 18, 2011. Ms. McGalla served as Chief Merchandising Officer and President of American Eagle Outfitters Inc. from March 2007 to 2009 and was responsible for the design, marketing, revenues, and performance including four brands and the e-commerce business. She led the development and launch of two of American Eagle Outfitters's start-up brands, aerie and 77 kids.
Previously, Ms. McGalla served as Chief Merchandising Officer of American Eagle Outfitters Inc. since November 2003 and an Executive Vice President since November 2003. She served as Chief Merchandising Officer of Eagle Clothes, Inc. She served as President of the American Eagle Brand since May 17, 2005 until March 29, 2007 and its Chief Merchandising Officer since May 17, 2005 until March 29, 2007. Prior to AEO, she spent 8 years in various merchandising and management positions in the department store retail sector.
Prior thereto, she served as Executive Vice President, Merchandising since August 2002. From November 1997 to August 2002, she served as Vice President, General Merchandise Manager-Womens. Ms. McGalla held various other positions with American Eagle Outfitters Inc., including Divisional Merchandise Manager-Womens from June 1996 to November 1997 and Buyer-Womens from June 1994 to June 1996. Prior to joining American Eagle Outfitters Inc., she held various merchandising management positions at Joseph Horne Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from June 1986 to June 1994.
Ms. McGalla serves as Chairman of the American Eagle Foundation. She has been Director of HFF Inc. since October 29, 2009 and HFF Holdings, LLC since October 2009. She has been Director of Wet Seal Inc. since January 18, 2011. She serves as Trustee of University of Pittsburgh. She was a Director for the Allegheny Conference on Community Development. Ms. McGalla earned her BA from Mount Union College. ■
