According to the figures recorded by AHDB up to 27 May, GB milk production peaked on the 29April this year. This is the earliest peak recorded for 10 years, and 9 days earlier than last year.

As a result of the early peak, milk production in GB is currently tracking 1.5% below the same time last year, and 3% below the AHDB tracker.

If production continues to track 3% below the tracker for the remainder of the month then GB milk deliveries in May will come out at 1,083m litres.

This would be 1.3% below May last year and the lowest May total since 2013. This is not a forecast, but a projection based on current levels and historic trends.
