When asked, a spokesperson of the BMA indicated that Mrs Veronique Thirion is dealing with this matter, but she is unavailable.

When asking around in the sector, there is no one who can confirm that there is research being conducted. The Mededingingsautoriteit can place high fines on cartels.

If there is an investigation ongoing, it wouldn't be the first time. Seven years ago, in 2009, certain Belgian auctions were scandalised and house searches were done by the Raad voor de Mededinging.

It concerned possible price agreements and forbidden exchange of information between certain auctions. At the time nothing came from the investigation.
