Prices of liquid milk, cheese, and curd increased in UK

The latest estimates from ONS show a 0.2% increase in prices received by manufacturers of liquid milk between March and April 2017.

Prices are 3.1% higher than a year earlier.

Factory-gate prices for cheese and curd also increased in April, up 0.4% compared to March.

With rises recorded in most months since August 2016, cheese & curd prices were 8.3% higher this April than in the same month last year.

According to the most recent data, retail prices for fresh milk fell between March and April 2017 (0.5%).

Retail cheese prices also fell, down 2.2% over the same period.

For fresh milk, retail selling prices in April were 0.9% higher than a year earlier while retail prices for cheese were level.
