UK farmers got 3.7% less for milk in June
In comparison to July of last year, prices paid were down 11.5%.
Factory-gate prices for cheese and curd fell only marginally in July relative to June, down by 0.2%. They are now 2.7% lower than levels in July last year.
According to the most recent data, retail prices rose slightly for fresh milk in July relative to June, up by 0.7%. Retail cheese prices also rose in the month, up 2.0% on June.
For fresh milk, retail selling prices were on par with those in July 2015, while the monthly price increase for cheese means they are now 2.1% lower than in July 2015. ■
