In the year 1924 Arnold Schweitzer acquires the "Ecridor Pencil Factory" (founded in 1915) in Geneva, creates a new company and gives it the name Caran d’Ache Swiss Pencil Factory. Five years later the the world's first all-metal mechanical clutch pencil, the Fixpencil, seen the light of the day. One year after that ecridor mechanical pencils in hand-engraved models in gold and silver make their debut.
