To have a sauna in your home certainly looks very attractive but it has many other benefits. While it is good for your health, it saves you money, for you don't need to commute to public sauna which saves you money and protects you from microbes that you may find in public spaces.

One of the leading manufacturers of sauna is German company Klafs, a company with long tradition and with very quality products. Mr. Erich Klafs founded Klafs in the city of Stettin in 1928, while today the headquarters are in Schwaebisch Hall, a city northern of Stuttgart. From the beginning Mr. Klafs believed that sauna has a positive impact on health and that was confirmed in 1952 when the first sauna was installed in a hospital. That was the second beginning that allowed increasing of production. The company established branches in Germany and surrounding countries, while today it is able to install its sauna in every corner of the world. With 600 employees it is not a problem, I'd say.

One of the most important facts about Klafs is that the company don't put the functionality over design or vice versa, it strives to make them equal. To achieve that Klafs connects their engineers with well-known designers such as Henssler & Schultheiss to create functional and healthy, and still beautifully looking sauna. The Red Dot Design Award confirms that such approach works well. The company is very active professional range and that was recognized and awarded with Gala Spa Award.

To have a good product is just half of the job, to have it successfully incorporated in partner's space (read: business), in another half. The company solved that second half by establishing Klafs GmbH Planung und Bau, a subsidiary which makes plans from design to building and installation. Thus, you don't have to be an expert in sauna, there are experienced designers and engineers that may help you.

The quality of work is of outmost importance. Since 1952 and the first hospital sauna, Klafs develops new working procedures and technologies to stay on top. And what makes us happy they care about nature. Since sauna is made of wood it obvious that only the highest quality wood should be used in production. Klafs uses the best material such as Canadian hemlock fir, with no knots and high durability. That type of wood has several advantages: It is extremely durable, it will not warp under extreme conditions (and there are plenty of them in a sauna), and it radiates heat evenly with no cold spots.

When material comes to a factory, the engineers then use the scanner grading systems which means that scanner sorts the wood by grain and colour, and at the same time rejects material that's not good. The main characteristic of the following production stages is attention to details which is one the most important things if you want state of the art products. Is assures that sauna will last for years, and that it always will be able to give the well balanced mix of heat, fresh air and humidity.

Klafs has several lines, but there are two main lines that incorporates all of them: solid construction or pre-assembled kit. The members of pre-assembled kit saunas as Smartsauna, Home, Premium and Lounge. They are characterised by a wide range of design possibilities. There is a choice of woods, forms and fittings to meet a broad scope of your wishes and requirements. And the whole focus of the pre-assembled sauna kits has been developed with long-lasting functionality in mind, one of the reasons behind the numerous guarantees and quality marks they bear.

You may cast your eyes over solid construction models Sight and Empire. They are made of thick Karelian spruce block boards which are extremely stable and provides a genuine Finnish sauna experience. Klafs' solid wood saunas are also available in hemlock wood, Nordic spruce or Canadian fir. Every line has a different look and you may easily find what the best for you and your space. If you haven't been thinking about having a sauna in your home now it's the time to start.
