Spring is here and we finally have time to bring a new life to out outdoor space. Thankfully, we can do wonders with a bit of paint, an old wooden deck, and a lot of imagination.

Did you ever paint a rug? If you didn't now it's the time to start but we are not talking about a real rug, we are talking about a painted rug on your wooden deck. A painted rug adds the beauty of contrast and is easy to manage. Obviously, you should use a bold color to make a clear contrast between the painted rug and the rest of the wood. Choose bright colors such as orange, red, or yellow to add a freshness to your space for every season.
If you are really ready to go bold, go geometric. You can add a geometric pattern to your wooden deck flooring to add a touch of boldness and color. Again: make sure your geometric pattern is in powerful colors to add a modern, interesting, and a bit eccentric twist to your otherwise usual and maybe boring outdoor space. Speaking about furniture, use neutral tone. That will make your pattern to rise and shine and stay in the main focus.
Paint your door! Yes, we know, the rule is to have all colors flowing together but that doesn't mean you must not have a strong accent somewhere. And that somewhere can be your back door as the point of connection between your interior and exterior. You can think of it like a symbol through which you are stepping out to colorful nature around you. Use a bold color such as red for a bold twist and think about some detail in the same color for a small piece of furniture or an accent.
And now something totally crazy: an outside accent wall. You are used to it if you have a fireplace: an accent wall is one of natural things to do around your fireplace to make a focal point. And there is no reason why shouldn't you make something similar outside. Choose a part of the privacy fence between you and your neighbor and paint it boldly. That will add a statement without being too much and it will also serve as a connection between your interior and exterior. ■
