Employment in Slovakia increased in information sector

In November 2016, compared with November 2015, the employment in Slovakia increased in information and communication by 7,8%.

The employment increased in selected market services by 7,2%, sale and repair of motor vehicles by 6,4%, industry by 3,7%, accommodation by 3,2%, transportation and storage by 3,1% and in food and beverage service activities by 2,1%.

The number of employed persons in construction remained unchanged. It decreased in wholesale by 4,4% and in retail trade by 0,2%.

In the first eleven months of 2016, compared with the same period of 2015, the employment increased, on average, in selected market services by 6,1%, information and communication by 5,9%, industry by 3,7%, sale and repair of motor vehicles by 3,5%, construction and accommodation equally by 1,4%, food and beverage service activities by 1,1% and in transportation and storage by 0,5%. A downturn was registered in wholesale by 4,9% and in retail trade by 0,9%.

In November 2016, compared with November 2015, the average nominal monthly wage increased in wholesale by 11% (EUR 980), accommodation by 7,7% (EUR 728), retail trade by 6,9% (EUR 698), transportation and storage by 6,3% (EUR 955), industry by 4,1% (EUR 1 166), selected market services by 2,6% (EUR 919), food and beverage service activities by 1,8% (EUR 391) and in construction by 0,4% (EUR 717).

It decreased in information and communication by 5,9% (EUR 1 832) and in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 0,2% (EUR 1 021).

In November 2016, the average real monthly wage grew, year-on-year, in wholesale by 11,2%, accommodation by 7,9%, retail trade by 7,1%, transportation and storage by 6,5%, industry by 4,3%, selected market services by 2,8%, food and beverage service activities by 2% and in construction by 0,6%.

It remained unchanged in sale and repair of motor vehicles. A decline was registered in information and communication by 5,7%.

Over the first eleven months of 2016, compared with the same period of 2015, the monthly wage rose, on average, in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 6,2% (reached EUR 926), wholesale by 5,9% (EUR 867), accommodation by 5,7% (EUR 668), transportation and storage by 5% (EUR 846), selected market services by 4,9% (EUR 860), retail trade by 4,8% (EUR 631), food and beverage service activities by 4,2% (EUR 394), construction by 3,4% (EUR 647) and in industry by 3,2% (EUR 988).

It decreased only in information and communication by 1,4% (EUR 1 734).

The real monthly wage grew, year-on-year, in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 6,8%, wholesale by 6,5%, accommodation by 6,3%, transportation and storage by 5,6%, selected market services by 5,5%, retail trade by 5,4%, food and beverage service activities by 4,8%, construction by 4% and in industry by 3,8%. A decline was registered only in information and communication by 0,8%.
