French manufacturing less optimistic in June

French manufacturing business sentiment fell in June after business leaders became less optimistic as their international order books grew thinner, statistics showed.

Confidence dipped to 102 - two points above the long-term average - from 104 in May, statistics agency Insee said. Business sentiment in June was below the 103 economists polled by The Wall Street Journal had expected.

A wider measure of business confidence - including services, wholesale, construction and retail - fell in June to 100 up from 102 in May.

Insee said confidence fell in the manufacturing, retail industry and services industries.
