In August, industrial production in Slovakia increased, year-on-year 2,1%

In August, industrial production increased, year-on-year, by 2,1%. The development according to the sections of SK NACE Rev. 2 was affected by growth in manufacturing by 3,1% and by drop in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 3,2% and in mining and quarrying by 9,8%.

In terms of the specific groupings of the industrial sectors, which contributed most to the total production increase, the most significant growth was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 15,5%, manufacture of basic metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 9,6%, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 14%, manufacture of electrical equipment by 11% and manufacture of wood and paper products, printing by 2,3%.

The total production was affected mostly by decrease in manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 35,8%, manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 17,8%, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 13,1%, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning by 3,2% and in manufacture of textiles, clothes, leather and leather products by 15,1%.

Compared with August 2017, in terms of the main industrial groupings, increase was recorded in production of investment goods by 12,3% and production of intermediate goods by 1,5%. Production of durable consumer goods was lower by 15,5%, production related to energy by 10,8% and production of non-durable consumer goods by 0,8%.

After seasonal adjustment, industrial production increased by 0,9% in

ugust 2018 compared with July 2018. Since the beginning of the year, IP increased, year-on-year, by 1,7%, of which in manufacturing by 3,1%. Production decreased in mining and quarrying by 8,5% and in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 6%.

In terms of the specific groupings of the industrial sectors, which contributed most to the total production growth, the most significant increase was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 7%, manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 4,4%, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 6,4%, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 2,4% and in manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 4,3%.

Production was down in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 6%, manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 10,9%, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 5,3%, mining and quarrying by 8,5% and in manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 3,4%.

In terms of the main industrial groupings, production of investment goods increased by 6,1%, production of non-durable consumer goods by 5,7% and production of intermediate goods by 1,7%. Production of durable consumer goods declined by 11,3% and production related to energy by 5,7%.
