Authorities said the 38 year old female patient had returned from Milan, with media reports saying she flew on February 23.

Speaking to the press, the Health Ministry’s spokesperson Dimitris Tsiodras said the woman in North Macedonia is being treated in an isolation unit of the city's AHEPA hospital and is in a good state. He also said her family will be quarantined for 14 days.

Brazil's Health Ministry today confirmed the first case of a fast spreading new coronavirus in Latin America, diagnosing a 61 year old man in Sao Paulo who returned recently from Italy.

The diagnosis comes during Brazil's carnival holiday, a peak time for domestic travel when millions of revellers throng to major cities for raucous street celebrations.

In Croatia, the third case of coronavirus has been confirmed. This is a man who works in Italy and is based in Rijeka.

"A third case of new coronavirus infection has been proven from the Infectious Diseases Clinic" Dr. Fran Mihaljevic "in Zagreb. It is working in a man working in Parma, Italy. He is housed in a hospital in Rijeka," the Civil Protection Directorate announced.

A Finnish woman has tested positive for novel coronavirus, officials at Helsinki University Hospital (HUS) said early today evening.

The patient, described as a woman of working age, was likely exposed to the virus during a trip to northern Italy's city of Milan, according to the hospital.

Earlier on Wednesday Italy confirmed the 12th fatality of a coronavirus patient, and that the number of cases has risen to 378 up from 6 since last Friday.
