Netherlands reports 6,814 new coronavirus infections

The Netherlands reported on Sunday 6,814 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 557,224, according to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).

The country also reported 25 new deaths from the virus, raising the total death toll to 9,687, said the RIVM.

Earlier this month, the Netherlands made it compulsory to wear a face mask in indoor public spaces such as schools, shops and railway stations to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
