If the bell still doesn't rings, you certainly heard of his London football club F.C. Chelsea. For months now yacht Pelorus doesn't belongs to him. New owner of the yacht is his ex wife Irina Malandina, today the richest ex stewardess in the world. Abramovich is probably very sorry for that, but this is a wife, sorry, life.
He can't complain; in his possession stay two yachts, Sussarro i Ecstasea, while Le Grand Blue Abramovich gave to his friend.
Pelorus first owner was one Saudi businessman who sold her to Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich the following year after buying. Pelorus was built at the Lürssen yard in Germany 2003 to the design magician Tim Heywood. People will say the Pelorus is the most spectacular yacht ever built. Two 3,600-hp Wärtsilä engines power her. What can be seen from abroad are gracefully cat angels, innovation terraces and splendid garage for four powerboats at the stern.
Security of the yacht is high as Abramovich is protective of his family's privacy. But, one is for sure: Security features include a submarine for detecting naval mines, a missile-detection system, bullet protected glasses and two helicopters. What strange equipment people need when they prepare for holidays?
And while Pelorus looks like fortress outside, inside she is pure luxury. Yacht Pelorus has crew of 36 and she can host 24 people. She has unique spa, big pool, hot massage baths, fitness room, diving center, rooms for massage, mud baths, interior and exterior salons and a lot more. Entry foyer is sound isolated just like a cinema in which 12 adult persons can comfortably sit. Control room for it is located behind the secret door on the back wall.
Bed and pillows are covered with soft materials in dark blue color like a color of sky at sundown with border of bronze-colored fiber. Walls are covered with oak panels, whet leather, with inlets of wood, and all that gives three-dimensional look, like eroded stone. Some of that design, signed by Terence Disdale, is applied on the floor, too.
Irina Malandina got a grandiose yacht. And with Pelorus she can go in a war if she wants to. Seriously, Irina won the best of the best. For those who saw movie Return of Superman, the boat in movie is replica of Pelorus.
Yacht Pelorus is the world's eleventh largest private yacht at 115 meters in length, with a price tag of $130 million. She can travel 700 nautical miles without taking the fuel. Her operating expenses are around 9 millions Euros per year. Well, Pelorus is a world by itself. ■
