For the all boat lovers Los Angeles is place to be this month while New Yorkers and their guests will enjoy in Christie's Interiors and Couture Fashion Week. On the opposite side of the world Michelin star chefs will serve delicious meals at Gourmet Abu Dhabi. Let the month begin.

After it successfully debuted last year, Gourmet Abu Dhabi scheduled this year from 5th to 19th, is back to the table expecting new fireworks of tastes. This gastronomic event takes place all over the city offering just the best of the best starting with the internationally renowned chefs, restaurants, best winemakers and many others from the industry professionals. Of course, celebrity guests are expected too.
But true stars will be chefs, some of them owners of three and two Michelin stars. Heinz Winkler, the first and the youngest Italian chef to receive 3 Michelin stars, will show his gastro skills as well as two French who also own "the mighty three": Alain Passard and Regis Marcon, the "wizard with mushrooms".
Following the tradition established last year, this year Gourmet Abu Dhabi will seek again for an individual, a chef, a restaurant or restaurant chain and award it for their excellence. That will be the most challenging and exciting 15 gastronomy days in Abu Dhabi.

If you are in New York or have a plan to visit it, pack your bags and take the first flight to The Big Apple. Your route: towards the centre of Midtown Manhattan. The final destination - Rockefeller Plaza. The event: Christie's Interiors. On the menu: 853 lots. Registrations: until February 9th.
At the first day Christie's will offers 363 lots, paintings among them, some dating back to the late 15th century, and small interior objects, later in the early afternoon hours. We hold our eyes at "The Assumption of the Virgin", religious master work of 17th century Italian artist Pietro Berrettini da Cortona. That is a black and white chalk drawing on brown wash on blue (discoloured) paper with watermark encircled fleur-de-lis surmounted by a crown.
The early afternoon is reserved for dinner services, lustres, candlesticks, vases, porcelain figures and decorates glasses, all dating back to the late 19th to early 20th century. Glasses, mirrors and small table object will be presented also on February 10th along with the antic furniture.

Don't leave the city, for some other kind of art is right around the corner - Couture Fashion Week which takes place in New York's Waldorf Astoria. Ceramists and painters will have their exhibits too, so, who knows, maybe your eyes will catch an abstract painting or some fine piece of jewellery, for some of the best jewellery designers will show their fabulous collections there.
On Friday 12th at 3pm Indian designer Sushma Patel Couture will open this year Couture Fashion Week and that first, the most trilling day for everybody, will end with Romanian fashion designer Catalin Botezatu.
The thirteenth will be lucky day for Nigerian House of Jola, Walid Atallah Couture from Dubai, Janerations, Andres Aquino, Parisian jewellery designer Didier Peiro and Through Crystal Eyes, designers of Swarovski wedding bouquets. Where there are bouquets there are wedding dresses and fabulous Walid Atallah. If you like to follow trends, New York Couture Fashion Week, always new and always surprising, is the place to be.

If you love water below you and wind in the sail above you, Los Angeles is the place to be this February, for it is the host of 54th L.A. Boat Show, one of the largest and most interesting boat shows in the world. This is no surprise because Southern California is one of the finest places around for showing and testing hundreds of new boats from 6 to 60 feet.
The main characteristic of the indoor L.A. Boat Show is the enormous amount of everything that belongs to water: from boats of all kinds to accessories to hi-tech electronics. February is an ideal month to search for a new boat for this summer or to buy a little piece of equipment that you need (read: want). Fishing boats, cruisers, sport boats, luxury yachts, water skis, anchors, new 2010 models... you name it, L.A.Boat Show has it.
Visit Los Angeles Convention Center large as twelve footballs fields and feel the spirit of blue waters. And don't forget the kid's art contest where visitors' offsprings can draw their dream boat and the luckiest one will win the great prize. ■
