From the crystalline blue of glacier ice, brown bears snatching salmon from a stream, the northern lights dancing overhead and Denali, the highest peak in North America, Alaska offers some of the world’s most spectacular scenic rail journeys.

Two railroads operate in the state, the Alaska Railroad and the White Pass and Yukon Route, taking visitors through rugged terrain and impressive scenery inaccessible by road.

Both trains offer "whistle stop" service for passengers to disembark along the way for a quiet day of picnicking, fishing or hiking.

You can stretch your legs, take pictures from the open-air vestibules or from the large windows by your seat, and enjoy a beverage or good meal and enjoy 180 degrees of scenery through its glass-domed rail cars.

Travel by Alaska Railroad and have an adventure of a lifetime!

Take the 11 days/10 nights Coast to Coast Adventure tour and travel across Alaska from South-central Alaska’s Kenai Fjords National Park to Interior Alaska’s Denali National Park and Fairbanks before heading north to the Arctic Ocean.

The tour includes a catamaran cruise into Kenai Fjords National park and a journey by bus to see Alaskan wildlife while enjoying vast scenery.

Price: From $3,704
Season: May 14 to September 4
