Events and activities are held in squares, on the streets and in venues across town. Numerous professional and amateur groups participate: Puppeteers, film makers, actors, poets and musicians from Croatia and abroad.

Combining sailing skills with culinary expertise, the annual San Pellegrino Cooking Cup in Lido di Venezia is one of the tastiest regattas in the world. Around 60 crews compete during the ten-mile race, seeking a double victory: One is the saling competition and the other the cooking challenge. The cooking entailing the preparation of a complete three-course meal.
The International Festival of Music and Dance is held in the exquisite setting of Granada's Alhambra, the Generalife Gardens, monasteries and the cathedral. Around the Alhambra and all over the city the streets are filled with the sound of Spanish guitars, the click of castanets, the whirl of flamenco dancing and much more. The programme features more than 40 shows, as well as the larger concerts in the Alhambra.

The Alabama Sports Festival State Games bring 50 sporting disciplines to Birmingham in this Olympic-style event. Over the festival's first two decades it has grown to 8000 competitors, ranging from 4 to 84 years. The list of 22 sports contains basketball, bowling, cheerleading, cycling and mountain biking, disc golf, diving, figure skating, gymnastics, inline hockey, karate, shooting sports, soccer, softball, swimming...
The Castlebar International Four Days Walks is the biggest international walking festival in Ireland, consisting of four days of rambling, talking, singing, dancing and music-making and attracting over 1000 walkers of all ages. There is no competition, you just have to complete your alotted distance each day. The 11-14 category gets to tackle a 20 kilometers course while the 15-59 age group has the option of a 40 km walk or a ramble. The 60 and over category get the option of a 20 km walk or a similar ramble.
