Stuttgart, Germany - January 29, 2014, Stuttgart, Germany - Daimler AG announces that it has appointed Markus Schäfer as member of the divisional board of Mercedes-Benz Cars for manufacturing and procurement.

Mr. Schäfer is currently responsible for vehicle production planning at Mercedes-Benz Cars.
He has more than 20 years of experience in the field of manufacturing. Mr. Schaefer has served as President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz U.S. International since July 2010, and he also spent five years as Vice President of Engineering for MBUSI between 2002 and 2007.
Immediately prior to his three years with MBUSI, he served as Director of Strategy for Production for Mercedes-Benz Cars from 2007 - 2010. Mr. Schaefer joined Daimler in 1990 when he entered a trainee program at the Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen plant.
He served as Operations Engineer, Planning Engineer and Production Officer at the Sindelfingen plant before becoming Head of Planning for the Passenger Cars Division for Mercedes-Benz Cars. He also served as Plant Manager of Egyptian German Automotive in Cairo, Egypt.
He thus takes over the functions of Andreas Renschler, who is leaving the company with immediate effect of his own accord and by mutual consent.
Mr. Renschler has been Member of Management Board since 2004. Mr. Renschler is responsible for Manufacturing and Procurement Mercedes-Benz and the business unit Mercedes-Benz Vans since April 1, 2013. He also serves as Member of Management Board of Mercedes Car Group. He serves as the President of Mcc smart Gmbh, Germany, a division of Daimler Chrysler.
Mr. Renschler served as the Head of Daimler Trucks Division at Daimler Trucks North America LLC. He served as the Head of Daimler Trucks at Daimler AG (formerly known as Daimlerchrysler AG). He served as Head of Smart division at Mitsubishi Motors Corp. He served as Head of Commercial Vehicles Division at Daimler AG since July 29, 2004. He serves as the Chairman of Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific Pty. Ltd and has been its Director since 2004.
Mr. Renschler has been a Director of DaimlerChrysler AG since March 2006. He has been Director of Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation since December 2004. He served as a Director of OC Oerlikon Corporation AG (formerly known as Unaxis Holding AG) from April 26, 2005 to June 28, 2005. ■
