Toronto, ON, Canada - December 21, 2012, Toronto, ON, Canada - EGI Financial Holdings announced the appointment of Robert Purves as chairman of the board of directors.

Mr. Purves served as the President of Robert Purves Limited from 1979 to January 31, 2003. His includes a strong insurance heritage, focused on property, casualty, management liability and surety lines. He serves as Chief Executive Officer of three insurance firms. He has direct experience in transportation environmental and waste management industries, as well as non-profit and special marine lines.
Mr. Purves has eight years experience in accounting and 27 years in the insurance brokerage business. He serves as Chairman of Purves Redmond Limited. He has been a Director of EGI Financial Holdings Inc since August 1997. He holds number of insurance diplomas and designations. Mr. Purves holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Toronto.
The company also announced that Paul Little is retiring as chairman but remains on the board of directors.
Mr. Little is President of Westover Investments Inc., an investment company. He has been a Director of EGI Financial since 2002 and is a former Chairman of its Board. He also sits on the boards of several other companies. Mr. Little is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Toronto.
The company also announced the appointment of Peter Crawford and Angus Ross to the Board of Directors. Mr. Crawford and Mr. Ross are both currently Directors of Echelon General Insurance Company (Echelon), the Canadian insurance subsidiary of EGI.
Mr. Crawford was appointed to the Board of EGI Financial on January 1, 2013. He has been a Director of Echelon General Insurance Company since 2004 and is Chair of EGI’s Audit and Risk Committee. Mr. Crawford is a retired Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of The Co-operators Group where he enjoyed a lengthy career in various financial and management roles. Mr. Crawford is a Certified General Accountant. ■
