Calgary, AB, Canada - January 9, 2014, Calgary, AB, Canada - Inter Pipeline Ltd. announces that Brent Heagy has been appointed chief financial officer, effective March 1, 2014.

Mr. Heagy joins Inter Pipeline from Athabasca Oil Corporation where he served as Chief Financial Officer. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Mr. Heagy has extensive experience in the areas of corporate finance, accounting, risk management and strategic leadership.
Mr. Heagy began his career in the general practice group at Coopers & Lybrand Chartered Accountants. At PanCanadian Petroleum Limited, he progressed through increasingly senior roles, including director, treasury, and manager, marketing financial services.
Mr. Heagy was the chief financial officer of PanCanadian Energy Services in Houston, and the chief risk officer at EnCana Corporation. As executive vice president and chief financial officer of Zargon Energy Trust, he led the acquisition of five companies during a two-year period. As Provident Energy Ltd.'s senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer, Mr. Heagy played a leading role in the sale of this natural gas liquids (NGLs) company to Pembina Pipeline Corporation.
Mr. Heagy received a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan, and completed the Strategic Elements of Financial Management Program at Harvard University. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta. He will replace William A. van Yzerloo who will retire.
Mr. van Yzerloo has served as Chief Financial Officer since April, 2004. He held the position of Vice President, Corporate Development from 2003 to 2005. Mr. van Yzerloo has more than 20 years of executive experience in the fields of finance, business and corporate development, and operations in the energy industry. Until 2002, he held the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Aquila Networks Canada Ltd. and its predecessor, West Kootenay Power Ltd.
He started his career with West Kootenay Power in 1984 as Internal Auditor and moved to the positions of Accounting Manager and Controller prior to taking on his executive role in 1992. Mr. van Yzerloo’s experience at Aquila included participation in energy acquisitions in Australasia and the acquisition of TransAlta Corp.’s electric distribution system by Aquila in 2000. ■
