Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - January 21, 2013, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad (MARC) announced the appointments of Y. Bhg. Datuk Azizan Abdul Rahman, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Muthanna Abdullah, Lillian Leong Bee Lian and Md Adnan Md Zain as new independent non-executive directors.

Datuk Azizan Abdul Rahman was the Director General of Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) from 2005 until his retirement in 2011. Prior to his appointment in Labuan FSA, Mr. Datuk Azizan was the Director of Banking Supervision at Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). Datuk Azizan currently serves as a board member of Labuan Corporation Berhad and Bahrain-based International Islamic Finance Market (IIFM), and is an executive committee member of Malaysia International Islamic Financial Centre (MIFC).
He is also an independent non-executive director of Bank Simpanan Nasional and the Chairman of Permodalan BSN Berhad. Mr. Datuk Azizan graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) degree from University of Malaya and holds an MBA from University of Queensland, Australia.
Dato’ Muthanna Abdullah brings with him 28 years of experience in law practice, and is currently a partner with legal firm Abdullah Chan. He sits on the Board of Sapura Resources Berhad and several private companies. Mr. Dato’ Muthanna graduated from the University of Buckingham and is a Barrister of the Middle Temple, England. He was admitted and enrolled as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1984.
Lillian Leong Bee Lian joined BNM in 1976 and has served in the Bank Regulation Department and Investment Operations and Financial Market Department. During her tenure, she was appointed as Chief Representative of BNM’s London office. She was made Assistant Governor of BNM in 2006 with the responsibility for the operations and administration of treasury, investments, exchange and currency, and served in that capacity until her retirement in 2009. Ms. Lian graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Monash University, Australia.
Md Adnan Md Zain has served in various capacities in the banking and insurance industry since starting his career in banking in 1981. He has held several senior positions in Standard Chartered Bank, including a position to head a key regional corporate banking project based in Standard Chartered Bank, Hong Kong from 1990 until 1992. He was the Head of Global Electronic Banking reporting directly to the Group Head office in London, prior to leaving Standard Chartered Bank in 1995. ■
