Milton Keynes, United Kingdom - February 25, 2014, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom - After three years as president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz UK, Marcus Breitschwerdt has been appointed head of Mercedes-Benz Cars Europe region, effective from January 2014.

At the same time, from January 2014, Mercedes-Benz UK formed into three distinct divisions, each with its own dedicated senior management structure. The Commercial Vehicles business has been organised into two distinct divisions.
At the same time, Gary Savage has been appointed CEO Mercedes-Benz UK and Managing Director Mercedes-Benz Cars. Michael Kamper became Managing Director Mercedes-Benz Trucks, and Steve Bridge was appointed Managing Director Mercedes-Benz Vans.
The changes mean that Mercedes-Benz UK now effectively runs as three distinct business divisions, each with its own business responsibility: Mercedes-Benz Cars, Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Vans. Mercedes-Benz Retail Group continues with Managing Director Mike Whittington.
In his new role, Mr. Breitschwerdt will have full business responsibility for all sales and marketing activities for Mercedes-Benz Cars in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
Mr. Breitschwerdt’s appointment follows three years leading the company’s UK business. Mr. Breitschwerdt has more than 20 years of comprehensive work and management experience with Mercedes-Benz, and has held various senior roles in strategy, planning, marketing and sales, including Head of Marketing Strategy for Mercedes-Benz Cars worldwide. He was President and CEO Mercedes-Benz Canada from 2003-2011 and President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz UK since 2011.
Mr. Savage was appointed Managing Director Mercedes-Benz Cars in June 2010. He has a depth of knowledge and experience of the automotive industry, including roles as Managing Director Citroën UK and a number of senior positions in Seat and Audi, part of the Volkswagen Group, including Head of Marketing and Head of Operations for Audi UK.
Mr. Kamper was appointed the role of UK Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles in June 2012. Previously he was based in Germany and had responsibility for Daimler Trucks' International Key Account Management and oversaw International Account Management for the commercial vehicle body builders. Mr. Kamper previously worked at Mercedes-Benz UK's Milton Keynes head office from 2001-2004, in Commercial Vehicles Marketing. ■
