Kingsport, Tenn., USA - May 15, 2013, Kingsport, Tenn., USA - Eastman Chemical Company announced that it has appointed executive vice president Mark J. Costa as president effective immediately, and CEO effective January 1, 2014.

The company also appointed Mr. Costa as a Director, effective immediately, to serve until the Annual Meeting of Stockholders in 2014.
Mr. Costa currently heads the company's Additives & Functional Products and Advanced Materials segments and is Chief Marketing Officer and has responsibility for the company's corporate innovation organization. Since joining Eastman in 2006, he has held a number of executive positions, including the top position at Eastman's global supply chain and Senior Vice President of the Polymers Group.
Prior to joining Eastman, Mr. Costa was a senior partner within Monitor Group's integrated North American and global client service networks. He received his bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California at Berkeley and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
The company also announced that James P. Rogers will continue to serve as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer until January 1, 2014, and then will serve as Executive Chairman of the Board.
From 1973 through 1980, Mr. Rogers served in the United States Navy as a naval aviator, flying aboard the U.S.S. Eisenhower, and achieving the rank of Lieutenant. After receiving his MBA in 1983, he joined Morgan Guaranty Trust Company and over the next four years rose to the level of Vice President in Corporate Finance.
In 1987, Mr. Rogers joined Amphenol Corporation, a leveraged buy-out in the electronic connector industry, as Treasurer. After that, he joined GAF Corporation/International Specialty Products, Inc. as VP & Treasurer. He then became Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of GAF. At the same time, he served as EVP, Finance, of International Specialty Products, Inc. He held these positions until joining Eastman in August 1999 as Senior Vice President and CFO.
Mr. Rogers was named Executive Vice President of Eastman Chemical Company and President of Eastman Division in November 2003 and served as President and head of the Chemicals & Fibers Business Group when appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in May 2009. He was appointed to his current position in January 2011.
Mr. Rogers serves on the Board of Directors for Lord Corporation. He is a member of the American Chemistry Council, the Business Roundtable, and The American Section of the Societe de Chimie Industrielle. ■
