Tokyo, Japan - Nomura Holdings announced the resigation of its group chief executive officer Kenichi Watanabe, effective July 31, 2012.

Mr. Watanabe has been the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nomura Holdings since March 2008 and also serves as its Chief Executive Officer of Domestic Retail.
He is a Representative Executive Officer, Member of Executive Management Board and he served as the President of Nomura.
Mr. Watanabe joined Nomura Holdings in April 1975 and served as its Senior Managing Director since June 2003, Head of Domestic Retail since April 2004, and he has been a Director of Nomura Securities since October 2001 and Nomura Holding since June 26, 2008. Mr. Watanabe is a Graduate of Kobe University.
Koji Nagai, currently President of Nomura Securities, will take over as group chief executive officer, effective August 1, 2012.
Mr. Nagai has been deputy president of the domestic unit, where he spent his entire career since joining the company in 1981 after graduating from Chuo University.
The company also announced that Atsushi Yoshikawa, currently regional chief executive officer of the Americas, has been named group chief operating officer and chief executive officer of the Wholesale division.
Mr. Yoshikawa has been regional CEO of Americas since April 1, 2012 and serves as its Executive Vice President.
He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President at Nomura Holding America, and as the Chairman, CEO and President at Nomura Securities International.
Mr. Yoshikawa was a Senior Managing Director of the investment banking division at Nomura Securities, Chief Executive Officer and Director at Nomura Asset Management, and he is a Director of Asset Securitization Coop Corp.
The company also announced that on July 31, 2012, directors Kenichi Watanabe and Takumi Shibata will retire. At the same date following managers will also retire: Group COO Takumi Shibata, and senior managing directors Yugo Ishida, Hitoshi Tada, Philip Lynch, Yoshinori Go and Takaaki Naito.
The company announced that it has also appointed several new managers, effective August 1, 2102: David Findlay as President and CEO of Nomura Holding America and President and CEO of Nomura Securities International; Toshiya Hasegawa as Co-CEO of Nomura Holding America; and Minoru Shinohara President and CEO of Nomura Asia Holding N.V. and President and CEO of Nomura International Hong Kong.
At Nomura Securities director and director Hitoshi Tada and deputy president Akira Maruyama will also retire on July 31, 2012.
Mr. Maruyama will continue to serve as President of Nomura Institute of Capital Markets Research. ■
