Samir Asaad O. Matbouli resigns from Türk Telekom board

Ankara, Turkey - December 12, 2013, Ankara, Turkey - Türk Telekom announces the resignation of Samir Asaad O. Matbouli, a board member and chairman of the audit committee.

Mr. Matbouli serves as Vice President of Enterprise Business Unit at Saudi Telecom Company. Mr. Matbouli served as a the General Manager for Network Operations and Vice President of Saudi Data at Saudi Telecom Company. He served in various senior positions at the Saudi PTT Ministry.

He is also a Consultant Member on the Faculty of the Engineering Department at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Matbouli has been a Director of Turk Telekomunikasyon AS since July 30, 2008 and a member of Audit Committee since April 9, 2009.

He holds degree in Electrical Engineering from the California University in the USA and a master's degree in telecommunication engineering from the King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Ghassan Hasbani shall be elected as the Board member to replace Mr. Matbouli, and his membership will be submitted to approval of shareholders in the next General Assembly.

Mr. Hasbani is a Partner of Booz & Co, Riyadh. Mr. Hasbani serves as Vice President and member of the leadership team of the communication and technology practice of Booz & Co in the Middle East. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of International Operations at Saudi Telecom Company from January 2010 to August 27, 2012.

He has extensive experience in the telecommunications sector and has led a number of engagements related to telecommunications markets assessment, investment strategies, mergers and acquisitions marketing, product and service development, organization restructuring and governance, technology plans, channel strategy and management, customer care, business development, chief financial officer and chief executive officer agendas.

Prior to joining Booz & Co, he held several positions within Nortel Networks and Cable & Wireless in Europe. He serves as Director of Kuwait Telecommunications Company K.S.C. He served as a Director of Turk Telekomunikasyon AS.

Mr. Hasbani served as a Director of Maxis Communications Bhd. from September 25, 2009 to October 20, 2012. He served as a Director of Maxis Berhad From September 25, 2009 to November 08, 2012. He is a published author and renowned commentator on industry and management topics.
