The First Bancshares: M. Ray Cole new CEO

Picayune, Ms., USA - September 15, 2009, Picayune, Ms., USA - M. Ray Cole has been named chief executive officer of The First and The First Bancshares, separating the duties of CEO and chairman of the board.



Mr. Cole received his bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from the University of Mississippi before beginning his career with The First National Bank of Commerce in New Orleans as corporate banking officer. Later, Mr. Cole joined Sunburst Bank in Laurel as senior lender and, later, president. Mr. Cole also attended the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at The University of Delaware. Mr. Cole is a founding director of the First National Bank of the Pine Belt and director of The First Bancshares Inc. He joined the bank as president of the Picayune location in 2002 and was named president of the banking system in 2006, moving his office to the Hattiesburg location in 2007.
