Poultry export volume from Brazil increases, dollar value dropped

A total of 320,300 were shipped abroad, comprising whole chickens, assorted cuts, salted chicken, processed chicken, and chicken-based sausage.
Export revenues in US dollars, however, dropped 11.5% to $458.6 million. Revenues in Brazilian real climbed 24.9% to BRL 1.8 billion. ABPA did not provide numbers regarding export destinations, but said in press material that sales performance to Asia and the Middle East was good.
In the first two months of this year, poultry export volume from Brazil was up 9.9% in volume to 637,100 tons shipped. Foreign exchange revenue in $reached $909.7 million, down 10.2%, and BRL 3.6 billion, up 32.2%. ■
