Industrial production in Slovakia decreased 8.1%

The development according to the sections of SK NACE Rev. 2 was affected a drop in manufacturing 9,5% and a rise in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply 1,9% and in mining and quarrying 5%.
In terms of the specific groupings of the industrial sectors, which contributed most to the total production growth, the most significant decrease was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment 14,1%, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products 25,6%, manufacture of metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment 18,2%, manufacture of computer, electrical and optical products 7,2% and manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. 2,5%.
The total production was affected mostly a growth in manufacture of electrical equipment 13,7%, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment 14,7%, manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products 17,1%, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply 1,9% and in mining and quarrying 5%.
Compared with August 2018, in terms of the main industrial groupings, production of intermediate goods decreased 12,6%, production of durable consumer goods 9,2%, production of investment goods 8,9% and production of non-durable consumer goods 2,8%.
Production relating to energy increased 4%.
After seasonal adjustment, industrial production decreased 2,6% in August 2019 compared with July 2019.
Since the beginning of the year, IP increased, year-on-year, 3%, of which in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply 8,6%, in mining and quarrying 3,3% and in manufacturing 2,3%.
In terms of the specific groupings of the industrial sectors, which contributed most to the total production growth, the most significant increase was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment 6,5%, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. 17,3%, manufacture of electrical equipment 21%, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply 8,6%, and in other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment 10,3%.
Production decreased mostly in manufacture of metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment 11,1%, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products 6,3%, manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products 13,8%, manufacture of textiles, apparel, leather and related products 12,3% and in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products 8,5%.
In terms of the main industrial groupings, production of investment goods increased 9,4%, production relating to energy 4,1% and production of non-durable consumer goods 1,6%.
Production of durable consumer goods dropped 5% and production of intermediate goods 3,3%. ■
