The fifth unit of the successful SW105 mini series, Sørvind’s design brief called for a high performance blue water cruiser that would be fast and fun to sail and optimized for success on the charter market. With an aggressive look accentuated by a sleek black hull, Sørvind is constructed with a full carbon hull, deck and bulkheads. Weight control was a priority with major savings gained by the use of synthetic teak decking and titanium stanchions, pulpits, cleats and fairleads.
The result is a 69,500 kg yacht that can sail in lighter wind conditions with reduced dependency on engine power. SW105#05 features a Raised Saloon (RS) configuration that allows natural light to flood the interior. Coachroof design and geometries were slightly modified: the chamfers were softened into radius curves to give Sørvind a sporty and elegant appearance. SW105#05’s interior features a full beam en-suite owner’s cabin forward – a Southern Wind layout trademark – granting maximum privacy and silence to the Owners.
A VIP cabin aft of the owner’s cabin and two double en-suite guest cabins amidships mean that a total of eight guests can be accommodated aboard, a comfortable and spacious layout that is perfect for charter guests. The saloon is a light, bright open space where eight to ten people can relax in comfort on sofas or around the dining table. Immediately forward of the living area is a fully equipped custom bar that separates the main saloon from the owner’s private area.
The aft crew area is an efficient living and working environment for up to six crew in three cabins. Sørvind stands out for her interior, designed by Nauta Design with the help of the Dutch Studio Hermanides for the decoration. Some tech specs: LOA:32.27 m (34.59 m including bowsprit), LWL:29.44 m, beam (max):7.31 m, draft:3.65 – 5.6 m (lifting keel), displacement:69.500 kg, engine:Cummins QSB 6.7MCD 305 hp@2600. SØRVIND will be constructed with a full carbon hull, deck and bulkheads. Weight control has been a high priority with major savings gained by the selection of a synthetic teak deck, titanium stanchions, pulpits, cleats and fairleads. ■
