Management board changes at Erste Group and Erste Bank

Vienna, Austria - The supervisory boards of Erste Group Bank AG and Erste Bank der oesterreichischen Sparkassen AG appointed Stefan Dorfler as CEO of Erste Bank and Willibald Cernko as new Erste Group chief risk officer.

Mr. Cernko was CEO of UniCredit Bank Austria AG until February 2016 and before that had worked in many different management functions at Bank Austria, HypoVereinsbank and the UniCredit Group over the course of more than 20 years.

Apart from being a widely recognized expert for the corporates and retail segments, Mr. Cernko also has a broad range of experience in the core markets of Erste Group.

Mr. Cernko will join Erste Group’s management board as Chief Risk Officer as of 1 January 2017.

Andreas Gottschling, who has served as Chief Risk Officer since 2013, is resigning from this position before the end of his mandate, having decided not to pursue the prolongation of his contract beyond June 2017.

At Erste Bank, Stefan Dorfler, who up to now has served as Head of Group Markets, will succeed Thomas Uher as CEO as of 1 October 2016.

Mr. Dorfler started his banking career at GiroCredit in 1995 and subsequently held various management positions at Erste Group, most of them related to the capital markets business.

In this sphere of business, he has been cooperating very closely with the savings banks for many years.

Mr. Dorfler is a member of the Supervisory Board of Wiener B怀rse AG, VBV-Pensionskasse and Ceska sporitelna.
