Udaipur in Rajasthan, the largest state in India, is a perfect place for those who prefer outdoor activities, like luxury accommodation and fine architecture. Udaipur is often called "Venice of the East" or "City of lakes" for it has some of the most beautiful lakes in the state. If you like to walk and look around to see a heritage of the city, you will like Udaipur a lot. Almost every palace in Udaipur is redecorated in a most beautiful hotel, but this time we lead you to The Lake Palace situated in the middle of Pichola Lake, beautiful marble palace built in 18th century. Legend says that young Maharana Jagat Singh II wished to woo one of ladies of his father's harem but his father strongly forbid that with words: "Build your own palace".
The minute he ascended the throne Maharana started to built the palace. The construction lasted only three years, and its glorious celebration in absolutely royal style lasted three days with elephants, horses, jewels and dances.
This godlike, fantasy white marble palace have every possible facility you may need: 24 hours open business centre with meeting and banquette rooms, work stations, laptops, printers, cell phones, translation services and many other services. Hands of the artists who built the palace used only ethnic high quality textiles, and what they finally did is among the most beautiful things human hands ever made.
Plan to stay at least two weeks to visit other palaces from 16th century. Visit solar observatory and Dudh Talai, "Rock Garden" from you can enjoy in most beautiful sunsets and Jagdish Temple situated in the middle of the city, a big tourist attraction. Udaipur will immediately capture you heart and you will soon make plans to go back to see it again.
Namibia is situated on the south western coast of Africa covering 825,418 square kilometres with more than 13 percent as national parks. Maximum daily temperatures in winter are between 20 to 26 C degrees so you shouldn’t be bewailing hot climate. The nights are another story. Frost during the night is not unusual phenomenon therefore have prepared hot pyjamas for winter nights when temperature falls between 5 to 12 C degrees. Now, if you have prepared that pyjamas and sunblock 20 we lead you to Windhoek, the capital of Namibia to accommodate you on the real count's castle. There are corners of the world that can surprise you even if you think that you know almost everything about them.
Windhoek is one of them. It surprised us with one beautiful castle which is renovated in today’s Hotel Heinitzburg. Count von Schwerin built the castle in 1914 for his lovely fiancée. Don't expect accommodation like that in Lake Palace, but expect everything else and first of all hospitality and courtesy.
Every room is tastefully decorated and has superb view, there is a swimming pool, faxes if you want to do something important etc. Take few days trip to see wild Namibia: rhinos, giraffes, elephants and lions. I don't know are you exactly ready for this step therefore think first: How can you tell male zebra from female zebra? Think for a while. If you want to shop visit craft market in Post Street Mall in central Windhoek and after that go to National Gallery of Namibia. Make reservation and eat in Joe's Beer Garden, the unique beer garden that supposedly has an excellent menu.
While we talk about food, Hotel Heinitzburg has the top restaurant in the whole Namibia, Leo's. Enjoy in food and the view. By the way, male zebra have black strips, female have white. If anyone take that statement seriously, I would die from laughter. ■
